  1. Use a ruler to draw a wide rectangle in the middle for the main castle wall.
  2. Draw two tall, thin rectangle towers, one on each side of the wall.
  3. Add the zig-zag 'battlements' (the square teeth) along the top of the wall and towers.
  4. Put a pointed triangle roof on top of each tower.
  5. Draw a tall arched doorway (the gate) in the centre of the wall.
  6. Add small windows — thin slits or arched shapes — on the towers.
  7. Draw flags on flagpoles at the top of each tower roof.
  8. Outline, then colour the walls grey or brown, the roofs red or blue, and add a sky and grass.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Draw the Main Wall

Draw a wide horizontal rectangle in the middle of your paper. This is the main castle wall. Keep it fairly wide but not too tall — the towers will be the tallest parts.

Step 2: Add Battlements on Top

Along the top edge of the wall, draw a row of square teeth shapes — these are called battlements or crenellations. Draw a tall square, then a gap, then another tall square, and repeat all the way across.

Step 3: Draw the Central Gate

In the middle of the wall, draw a tall arched doorway — a rectangle with a rounded top. Add a portcullis (iron gate) inside it with a crosshatch grid pattern of lines.

Step 4: Draw Two Side Towers

On each side of the main wall, draw a tall rectangle tower. The towers should be taller and slightly narrower than the main wall. Add battlements across the top of each tower too.

Step 5: Add Tower Windows

Draw small arched windows on each tower — two or three per tower, evenly spaced. Narrow arched windows look most castle-like.

Step 6: Add Flags

On top of each tower battlement, draw a thin flagpole with a triangular or rectangular flag flying from it. Add a symbol or stripe to each flag.

Step 7: Draw a Drawbridge

In front of the gate, draw a drawbridge — a rectangle the same width as the gate, lowered flat. Add two chains going from the top corners of the bridge up to the wall.

Step 8: Add Stone Texture

On the walls and towers, draw irregular curved rectangle shapes to suggest stone blocks. These do not need to be perfectly uniform — rough and varied looks more realistic.

Adding Colour

Use light and medium grey for the stone walls. Make the windows dark inside (black or dark blue). Add green vines climbing one corner of the wall. Colour flags in bright contrasting colours.
