💡 Perfect if you're thinking...
Episode 1 is where it all begins — the very first day of the 100 Days Sketching Challenge! This opening episode is about getting started: the basic shapes every drawing is built from, and how to turn them into your first simple sketches. Parikshet shows you how to begin your own 100-day drawing journey.
🖍️ What You Need
- A sketchbook (to keep all 100 days together)
- Pencil and eraser
- A pen for outlines
- A timer (6 minutes per session)
How to Start the 100 Days Challenge: Episode 1
- Get a dedicated sketchbook — having all your sketches in one place lets you see your progress over the 100 days. Number the first page 'Day 1'.
- Master the four basic shapes — circle, square, triangle, and a straight line. Almost every drawing is built from these. Practise drawing each one a few times.
- Turn a circle into something — add details to a circle to make a ball, a face, the sun, or an apple. One shape, many possibilities.
- Turn a square into something — a square becomes a box, a window, a house, or a present.
- Turn a triangle into something — a triangle becomes a tree, a mountain, a slice of pizza, or a party hat.
- Combine shapes — put a triangle on a square to make a house; add a circle for the sun. You've made a scene from basic shapes!
- Set your 6-minute timer — keep each daily session short so it's easy to stick to. Six minutes a day for 100 days adds up to real improvement.
- Sign and date Day 1 — write the date so you can look back and see how far you've come.
🌟 Did You Give It a Go?
Studies of skill-building show that SHORT, DAILY practice beats long, occasional sessions every time. This is because your brain strengthens skills through frequent repetition and sleep between sessions. Six minutes a day, every day, builds drawing skill far more effectively than a three-hour session once a month. This is the science behind the 100 Days Challenge.
The Four Shapes Behind Every Drawing
- Circle — balls, faces, the sun, fruit, wheels
- Square/rectangle — boxes, houses, windows, screens
- Triangle — trees, mountains, hats, roofs
- Line — limbs, horizons, the structure of everything
🎯 Try This: The Shape Transformation Game
- Draw five circles in a row.
- Turn each one into a different thing: a face, an apple, a ball, the sun, a clock.
- Now do the same with five squares and five triangles.
- See how many different objects you can make from each basic shape!
