Mommy Long Legs is one of the most recognisable characters from the horror game Poppy Playtime — a bright pink creature with an enormous wide grin and impossibly long, stretchy, bendy limbs. Part of the 6-minute 100 Days Sketching Challenge. (A spooky-fun one for older kids!)

🖍️ What You Need

  • Pencil and eraser
  • Pink and dark pink markers
  • Blue for the eyes
  • White for the teeth
  • Black pen for outlines

How to Draw Mommy Long Legs Step by Step

  1. Draw the head — a rounded head shape. The face is the main feature, so make it clear and central.
  2. Add the big eyes — two large round eyes with blue irises and highlights, giving a wide, slightly unsettling stare.
  3. Draw the huge grin — a very wide, curling smile stretching across the lower face, full of teeth. This enormous grin is her signature.
  4. Shape the head with side bumps — Mommy Long Legs has rounded bumps or 'hair' shapes on each side of her head.
  5. Add the small body — a relatively small torso beneath the big head.
  6. Draw the impossibly long, bendy limbs — her defining feature! Very long, thin arms and legs that curl, coil, and stretch like elastic in impossible loops.
  7. Add hands and feet — rounded hands (often with four fingers) and feet at the ends of the stretchy limbs.
  8. Colour — bright pink body, blue eyes, white teeth, with a slightly shiny, rubbery look.
💡 Parikshet's Tip: Like all the Long Legs characters, the whole point is the impossibly LONG, BENDY limbs — draw them curling, looping, and stretching far beyond what real arms and legs could do. The contrast between her cute bright-pink colour and big grin versus the creepy stretchy limbs is exactly what makes the character memorable.

🌟 Did You Know?

Mommy Long Legs appears in Poppy Playtime Chapter 2, set in an abandoned toy factory. Her stretchy design is inspired by real stretchy 'sticky hand' toys — the kind you can pull long and they spring back. Despite being a horror character, her bright colours and toy-like design made her one of the most popular fan-art and merchandise subjects among young gamers in the early 2020s.

Drawing the Long Legs Family

  • Impossibly long limbs — far longer than any real arm or leg
  • Bendy and coiling — limbs loop and spring like elastic
  • Bright pink with a huge grin — cute colour, creepy smile
  • Rubbery sheen — highlight lines suggest stretchy material
