Silver the Hedgehog is one of the coolest characters in the Sonic universe — a hedgehog from the future with silver-white fur, glowing golden eyes, and psychic powers. His unique five-pointed head quills make him instantly recognisable. Part of the 6-minute 100 Days Sketching Challenge.
🖍️ What You Need
- Pencil and eraser
- Silver, grey, and white markers
- Gold/yellow for the eyes and cuffs
- Cyan for his psychic glow
- Black pen for outlines
How to Draw Silver the Hedgehog Step by Step
- Draw the head — a round hedgehog head, the same base as Sonic.
- Add Silver's signature quills — his most distinctive feature is the FIVE quills on his forehead that fan out like a leaf or a maple-leaf crown. Draw five pointed quills spreading forward from the top of his head.
- Add the back quills — two quills sweeping back from the head, with curved tips (different from Sonic's straight ones).
- Draw the eyes — golden-yellow eyes with a confident, calm expression.
- Add the face — a small nose and mouth, plus the tan muzzle area.
- Draw the body and arms — Sonic's usual body shape, with cyan/blue glowing cuffs on his gloves (showing his psychic energy).
- Add the boots — Silver wears distinctive boots with cyan, white, and gold markings.
- Colour — silver-white fur, golden eyes, white gloves with cyan glow, and add a faint cyan psychic aura around his hands.
🌟 Did You Know?
Silver the Hedgehog first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) and comes from 200 years in the FUTURE. His special power is psychokinesis — he can move objects with his mind and even fly using his mental energy, surrounding things in a cyan glow. His character was inspired by the idea of a hero travelling back in time to fix a ruined future.
The Sonic Hedgehog Trio Compared
- Sonic — blue, green eyes, straight back-quills, super speed
- Shadow — black with red stripes, upward quills, red eyes
- Silver — silver-white, golden eyes, five fanned forehead quills, psychic powers
- The quills — each hedgehog's quill shape is the key identifier
🎯 Try This: Draw the Three Hedgehogs Together
- Draw Sonic, Shadow, and Silver side by side.
- Give each their signature quills: Sonic straight, Shadow upward, Silver fanned.
- Colour them blue, black-and-red, and silver.
- Add each one's signature effect: speed lines for Sonic, energy for Shadow, cyan glow for Silver.
