What You'll Need

Step-by-Step: Drawing a Chicken

Step 1: Draw the Body Oval

Draw a large egg shape in the centre of your paper, slightly tilted. This is the chicken's plump body.

Step 2: Add the Head Circle

Above and slightly to the right of the body, draw a smaller circle for the chicken's head. Leave a small gap — we'll connect it next.

Step 3: Connect Head to Body

Draw two smooth curved lines connecting the head circle to the body oval, forming the neck. The neck should be short and slightly wider at the bottom.

Step 4: Draw the Beak

On the right side of the head, draw a small triangle pointing to the right. Add a thin curved line through the middle to divide it into the top and bottom beak.

Step 5: Add the Comb and Wattle

On top of the head, draw three small rounded bumps in a row — this is the comb. Below the beak, draw one small teardrop shape hanging down — the wattle.

Step 6: Draw the Wings

On the body oval, draw a curved D-shape on the side to show the folded wing. Add a few short curved lines along the bottom edge to suggest feathers.

Step 7: Add the Tail Feathers

At the back of the body, draw three or four curved lines fanning upward and slightly backward, like a fan of feathers.
