A cartoon monkey is all about the round face, big ears, and that cheeky grin. Parikshet's simple version uses circular shapes throughout, making it accessible for kids from age 5 upward.

How to Draw a Monkey Step by Step

  1. Draw the head — a large circle for the face.
  2. Add the ears — two circles on either side of the head, slightly overlapping the edge. Inside each ear, draw a smaller circle for the inner ear.
  3. Draw the face patch — an oval shape centred on the lower half of the face in a lighter colour (the beige muzzle area).
  4. Add the face — two large round eyes above the muzzle, a round nose on the muzzle, and a big grinning smile.
  5. Draw the body — a rounded rectangle below the head. Add a curved belly patch in lighter brown.
  6. Add arms and legs — curved tube shapes for limbs with larger round hands and feet.
  7. Draw the tail — a long curling tail that coils upward at the tip.
  8. Colour — brown for the main body, tan/beige for the muzzle and belly patch.
💡 Parikshet's Tip: The muzzle (face patch) is key to making it look like a monkey rather than just a bear. Make it clearly oval and a distinctly lighter colour than the surrounding face.
