💡 Perfect if you're thinking...
Christmas stockings hung by the fireplace are one of the most festive holiday images to draw. Their distinctive sock shape, fluffy trim, and gift items peeking out the top make them fun to decorate. Here is how to draw one — or a whole row — step by step.
🖍️ What You Need
- Pencil and eraser
- Red marker for the stocking
- White marker or gel pen for the fluffy trim
- Coloured markers for the gifts inside
How to Draw a Christmas Stocking Step by Step
- Draw the stocking leg — a wide rectangle tapering slightly as it goes down.
- Add the foot — at the bottom of the leg, draw the toe section curving forward to the right. The stocking shape is like a backwards J or a foot.
- Draw the fluffy cuff — at the top of the stocking, a wide, thick, fluffy band. Give it a slightly bumpy/irregular top edge to suggest fluffiness.
- Add items peeking out — above the cuff, draw the tops of gifts: a candy cane, the top of a wrapped box, a toy, a star.
- Draw a hanging loop — a small loop at the top-right corner for hanging from the mantle.
- Add patterns — stars, snowflakes, or stripes on the stocking body.
- Colour — bright red stocking, white fluffy cuff, colourful gifts peeking out.
