Shy Guy from the Mario series is one of the most mysterious and charming enemies — a small robed figure wearing a white mask. His simple silhouette makes him one of the easier Mario characters to draw, and his many colour variations make him fun to personalise.

🖍️ What You Need

  • Pencil and eraser
  • Red marker (classic Shy Guy colour)
  • White for the mask
  • Black for details

How to Draw Shy Guy Step by Step

  1. Draw the robe — a simple bell shape: narrow at the top, flaring out at the bottom. This is the main body.
  2. Add the cowl/hood — a rounded hood shape at the top of the robe, covering where the head would be.
  3. Draw the mask — on the front of the hood, draw the iconic white oval mask with two small round eye holes.
  4. Add the eyes — inside each eye hole, small dark oval pupils looking in a specific direction.
  5. Sketch the arms — two small mitten-like arms emerging from the sides of the robe.
  6. Add the shoes — two small round shoes at the bottom of the robe, peeking out from under the hem.
  7. Draw the belt — a horizontal band around the midsection with a simple rectangular buckle.
💡 Parikshet's Tip: The mask is literally a white oval with two small holes — do not overthink it. The simpler the mask, the more mysterious the character looks. Complexity makes it look like a face; simplicity makes it look like a mask.
