Squid Mario — the playful aquatic form from Super Mario — combines Mario's iconic cap with a squid's trailing tentacles. It is a fun variation that kids aged 6 and above can draw using simple oval and curve shapes.

🖍️ What You Need

  • Pencil and eraser
  • Blue and purple markers
  • Red for Mario's cap
  • Black pen for outlines

How to Draw Squid Mario Step by Step

  1. Draw the squid body — a large rounded oval shape, like an upside-down teardrop.
  2. Add the tentacles — four to six curved lines hanging down from the base of the body, tapering to points.
  3. Draw Mario's cap — sitting on top of the squid body: a rounded dome cap with a brim, and the letter 'M' on the front.
  4. Add Mario's face — below the cap brim, draw his round eyes, bushy moustache, and big nose.
  5. Add side fins — two small wing-like fin shapes on either side of the squid body.
  6. Draw the spots — squid Mario has circular spots on his body, like a real squid.
  7. Colour — blue-purple squid body, red cap, skin-tone face, white gloves on tentacle tips.
💡 Parikshet's Tip: The key is getting Mario's face recognisable on a non-human body. His red cap and moustache are the two elements that do all the work — nail those and the rest is just a fun squid drawing.
