Patrick Star is SpongeBob's best friend and one of the easiest cartoon characters to draw. His pink starfish body uses only one main shape, so even young children can master him quickly.

🎨 What You Need

  • A4 white paper
  • HB pencil
  • Black fine-liner
  • Pink, green and white colouring pencils
  • Eraser

How to Draw Patrick Star Step by Step

  1. Draw a large five-point star in the centre of your paper. Make the points slightly rounded, not sharp.
  2. The top point is Patrick's head — add two oval eyes side by side near the top.
  3. Inside each eye, draw a small black dot for the pupil and a thin black eyebrow above.
  4. Draw a wide open smiling mouth under the eyes with a curved tongue inside.
  5. The two side points are his arms — add tiny hand details at the tips.
  6. The two bottom points are his legs — keep them slightly thicker.
  7. Add his green shorts with purple flowers across the middle of his body.
  8. Outline with fine-liner, erase pencil lines, and colour his body pink, shorts green with purple flowers and his mouth dark pink.
💡 Parikshet's Tip: Use a light pencil for the star shape so you can easily smooth out the points before inking — that is how Patrick gets his soft rounded look.

🌟 Did You Know?

Patrick Star lives under a rock in the underwater town of Bikini Bottom, and despite being a starfish, real starfish actually do live under rocks too.

Tips for a Cuter Patrick

  • Make his eyes slightly different sizes for a goofy expression.
  • Add little freckles on his cheeks for personality.
  • Use two shades of pink — lighter on the body, darker around the edges.
  • Add a wavy line at the bottom of the page to show he is underwater.
