A sailing boat gliding across the sea is one of the most relaxing things to draw, and it’s easier than it looks. The whole picture is really just a curved hull, a straight mast and a couple of triangle sails catching the wind.

How to Draw a Sail Boat for Kids

  1. Draw the hull — a long, shallow curve like a wide smile for the boat’s body.
  2. Close the top — a straight line across the top of the hull for the deck.
  3. Add the mast — a tall straight line rising from the centre of the deck.
  4. Draw the main sail — a large triangle filling the space on one side of the mast.
  5. Add the jib — a smaller triangle on the front side of the mast.
  6. Add a flag — a tiny triangle at the very top of the mast.
  7. Draw the sea — a few gentle wavy lines beneath the hull.
  8. Outline and colour — ink the lines, colour the sails and paint the sea blue.
