How to Draw a Minecraft Wolf/Dog — Easy Step-by-Step for Kids

The Minecraft Wolf is every player's loyal companion! Once tamed, it's your dog — and it looks adorable in that blocky Minecraft style. Let's draw it with Parikshet!

What You'll Need

  • Pencil (HB or 2B)
  • Eraser
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • Grey, white, and red coloured pencils
  • Ruler

Step-by-Step: Drawing a Minecraft Wolf

Step 1: Draw the Body Block

Draw a wide horizontal rectangle for the wolf's blocky body — wider than it is tall. Minecraft wolves are stocky and low-built.

Step 2: Draw the Head Square

To the left of the body, draw a square for the head — slightly larger than the body in height, attached directly to the body's left side. Minecraft wolf heads are big relative to the body.

Step 3: Draw the Snout

On the front of the head square (the left face), draw a smaller rectangle protruding forward — this is the snout. About half the width and a third the height of the head.

Step 4: Draw the Ears

On the top of the head, draw two small rectangular ear shapes pointing upward — one at each corner of the head top. Minecraft ears are simple upright rectangles.

Step 5: Draw the Face Details

On the head, draw two small square black pixel eyes. On the snout, draw a small black square nose. Add a thin horizontal line below the nose for a slight smile or neutral expression.

Step 6: Draw the Four Legs

Under the body block, draw four short rectangular legs — two at the front and two at the back. Each leg is a simple narrow rectangle. For a sitting wolf, make the back legs bent at a 90-degree angle.

Step 7: Draw the Tail

Behind the body, draw a small rectangular tail. A tamed (happy) wolf's tail points upward at an angle. An untamed wolf's tail hangs down.

Step 8: Add the Red Collar and Colour

Around the wolf's neck, draw a thin horizontal band — the red collar showing the wolf is tamed. Add a small square tag hanging from it. Colour the body grey with white face and tail tip. Collar bright red. Eyes black pixel squares.

Colouring Tips

Tamed Minecraft wolves are grey with white faces and tails. The collar is bright red — the key detail showing it's a pet. Eyes are black pixel squares.

Parikshet's Tips

  • The red collar is the one detail that turns a wolf into a tamed dog — don't forget it!
  • Use a ruler to keep all the blocky shapes perfectly straight.
  • Practice every day and you'll get better!
