The Science Behind It

Fizzy drinks contain carbon dioxide gas dissolved under pressure. When you open the bottle, the pressure drops and the gas starts forming bubbles. Once enough bubbles are clinging to the raisin, they provide enough buoyancy to float it upward. At the surface, the bubbles pop and the raisin sinks again — and the cycle repeats over and over.
