How to Draw a Slimy Skeleton Monster: Step-by-Step for Kids

Grab your pencil and let's draw together with Parikshet — a creepy slimy skeleton monster, perfect for Halloween!

What You'll Need

  • Pencil (HB or 2B)
  • Eraser
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • Coloured pencils or crayons (white, light green, dark green, black)

Step-by-Step: Drawing a Slimy Skeleton Monster

Step 1: Draw the Skull Head

Start with a large oval at the top of your paper for the skull. Make it slightly wider at the top than the bottom. The lower jaw should be slightly narrower — like an upside-down oval connected at the bottom.

Step 2: Draw Hollow Eye Sockets

In the upper part of the skull, draw two large hollow eye sockets — oval or rounded triangle shapes, filled in solid black. Real skulls have deep, dark eye sockets. Make them large and menacing.

Step 3: Add the Nose Hole

Between and below the eyes, draw a small upside-down heart or triangle shape for the nasal cavity. Fill it black. Skulls don't have noses — just a hole!

Step 4: Draw the Teeth and Jaw

Along the lower part of the skull, draw a row of rectangular teeth — about 8 teeth visible. Some teeth can be chipped or cracked for a scary effect. The gaps between teeth are filled black. Draw the jaw outline as a separate lower bone below the teeth.

Step 5: Draw the Ribcage Body

Below the skull, draw an oval shape for the torso. Then add 5 or 6 curved rib bones on each side — these curve from a central sternum (breastbone line down the middle) outward and downward. The ribs are like curved parentheses on each side.

Step 6: Add Slimy Drips

This is the monster part! From the skull, ribcage, and arm bones, add dripping slime — draw irregular droplet shapes and long stringy drips hanging off the skeleton. Slime drips come to rounded points at the bottom.

Step 7: Draw Arm and Leg Bones

Add simple arm bones — two parallel cylinder shapes for each arm (upper and lower arm), meeting at a circle for the elbow joint. At the end, draw five bony finger shapes — long, thin rectangles with small knuckle circles.

Colouring Your Slimy Skeleton Monster

The bones are bright white or off-white. The slimy drips are bright green or yellow-green. The eye sockets, nasal hole, and tooth gaps are pure black. Add a dark green shadow to the underside of bones for a 3D effect. The background can be black for maximum spooky impact.

Parikshet's Tips

  • The slime drips are what transform a plain skeleton into a slimy monster — make them long, gooey, and bright green.
  • Make the eye sockets very large and very black — this is the scariest detail of any skull drawing.
  • Practice makes perfect!
