How to Draw Spider-Man's Face: Step-by-Step for Kids

Grab your pencil and let's draw together with Parikshet — the iconic Spider-Man face mask, web pattern and all!

What You'll Need

  • Pencil (HB or 2B)
  • Eraser
  • White paper
  • Black marker (fine tip for web lines)
  • Coloured pencils or crayons (red, blue, black, white)

Step-by-Step: Drawing Spider-Man's Face

Step 1: Draw the Head Oval

In the centre of your paper, draw a large oval — slightly taller than wide. This is Spider-Man's masked head. It should be big enough to fit all the details comfortably.

Step 2: Draw the Iconic Eye Shapes

Spider-Man's eyes are the most recognisable feature — they are large, white, angular shapes that angle upward toward the outside edges. Draw two almond or elongated hexagon eye shapes in the upper half of the head. They should slant upward toward the outside of the face, like angry eyebrows. Make them large and dramatic.

Step 3: Draw the Central Web Line

Starting from the very top of the head oval, draw a vertical line straight down through the centre of the face to the chin. This is the centre line of the web pattern.

Step 4: Draw Horizontal Web Lines

From the centre vertical line, draw curved horizontal lines going outward to both sides — like the lines on a globe. Space them evenly from the top of the head to the chin. Each line should curve outward (convex outward toward the edges). Draw about 6 to 8 of these curved lines.

Step 5: Add Diagonal Web Lines

Now add diagonal lines radiating outward from the centre of the face. Draw lines going from the centre/top outward in all directions, intersecting with the horizontal curved lines. This creates the classic web grid pattern.

Step 6: Add the Black Border Around the Eyes

Around each eye shape, draw a thin black outline. The area between the eyes should also have a thin black web line running across the nose bridge area.

Step 7: Outline the Head and Clean Up

Trace the head outline and eye shapes boldly with a black marker. The web lines can be slightly thinner. Erase all pencil marks.

Colouring Spider-Man's Face

The entire face is red. The web lines are black (drawn on top of the red). The eyes are white — leave them uncoloured or use white pencil. The outer edges of the head where it meets the neck and shoulders can show the beginning of blue costume.

Parikshet's Tips

  • Spider-Man's eyes angle upward sharply — if you draw them horizontal or downward, it won't look right. The upward angle is everything.
  • Draw the web lines lightly at first — it's easy to overcrowd the pattern. Fewer, cleaner lines look better than too many cramped ones.
  • Practice makes perfect!
