How to Draw Baki Hanma: Step-by-Step for Kids

Baki Hanma is one of anime's most muscular and intense fighters. Drawing him is a great way to practise muscles and fierce expressions — here is how to do it step by step!

What You'll Need

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Paper
  • Dark pencil or pen for shading

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Draw the Head

Sketch a wide oval for Baki's head. His face is broad and angular with a strong jaw. Make the chin squared off slightly rather than rounded.

Step 2: Add the Fierce Face

Draw narrowed, intense eyes with heavy, furrowed brows pulled down in the centre. The eyes are slanted and the pupils are small and sharp. Add a strong nose and a set, determined mouth.

Step 3: Draw the Hair

Baki has spiky dark hair that falls forward over his forehead in thick chunks. Draw several downward-pointing spikes framing his face.

Step 4: Draw the Neck

Draw a very thick, powerful neck below the head. Add two trapezoid muscle shapes on each side of the neck (the trapezius muscles) rising up toward the ears.

Step 5: Sketch the Shoulders and Upper Body

Draw massive, wide shoulders — much wider than the head. The deltoid muscles are large, rounded shapes. Baki's body is an extreme inverted triangle — very wide at the top, narrowing at the waist.

Step 6: Draw the Chest and Abs

Draw two large curved pectoral muscles on the chest. Below them, draw a grid of defined ab muscles — six individual rounded rectangles stacked in two columns of three.

Step 7: Add the Arms

Draw thick, powerful upper arms with prominent bicep bulges. The forearms taper slightly but still show strong muscle definition with curved lines.

Step 8: Add Shading for Muscles

Use dark pencil shading along the edges of every muscle group to define them. Add shadows under the pecs, between the abs, and on the inner sides of the arms. This is what makes Baki look so powerful!

Adding Colour

Use warm skin tones with strong contrast. Dark shadows under and between every muscle group. Baki often wears fighting shorts in dark blue or black — keep the upper body bare to show all the muscle detail.

Tips from Parikshet

  • Baki's muscles are exaggerated — way bigger than a real person. Lean into this, it is anime style!
  • The shading between muscles is more important than the outline. Spend extra time here.
  • The fierce expression is key — those angry furrowed brows make it look like Baki, not just any muscular figure.
