How to Draw a Pirate Ship

  1. Draw the hull — a long curved shape like a wide smile across the middle of your page.
  2. Add the deck line — a curved horizontal line across the top of the hull.
  3. Cabin at the back — a small rectangle with a curved roof at the right end of the deck.
  4. Three masts — three vertical lines rising from the deck, the middle one tallest.
  5. Add the sails — large curved rectangles between the masts, billowing slightly.
  6. Crow's nest — a small barrel shape near the top of the main mast for the lookout.
  7. Jolly Roger flag — a flag at the very top with a skull and crossbones.
  8. Ink and colour — brown for wood, white/cream for sails, blue waves around the bottom of the hull.
