💡 Perfect if you're thinking...
The Christmas tree is the centrepiece of the festive season — and one of the most satisfying holiday drawings. With its layered branches, sparkling decorations, and star on top, it brings together simple shapes into a joyful image. Parikshet shows you an easy version anyone can draw.
🖍️ What You Need
- Pencil and eraser
- Green marker (two shades if possible)
- Gold or yellow for the star
- Red, blue, and silver for baubles
- Brown for the trunk
How to Draw an Easy Christmas Tree Step by Step
- Draw the trunk — a short, wide rectangle at the bottom centre of your page.
- Draw the bottom tier — a wide triangle sitting on the trunk. Instead of straight edges, give the bottom edge a gentle zigzag to suggest branches.
- Add the middle tier — a slightly narrower triangle above the first, overlapping it a little, also with a zigzag lower edge.
- Add the top tier — the narrowest triangle at the top, coming to a point.
- Draw the star — a five-pointed star perched on the very top of the tree.
- Add baubles — round ornaments hanging on the branches in different colours, each with a tiny cap and loop on top.
- Draw the lights and tinsel — a zigzag string of small oval lights looping across the tiers, and curved tinsel garlands.
- Add presents and colour — wrapped gift boxes with ribbons under the tree. Colour: darker green underneath each tier, lighter green on top, bright decorations.
🌟 Did You Know?
The tradition of decorating evergreen trees at Christmas began in 16th-century Germany, where devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Evergreens were chosen because they stay green all winter, symbolising everlasting life. The first electric Christmas tree lights appeared in 1882, invented by Edward Johnson, a colleague of Thomas Edison — before that, people used real (and rather dangerous) candles!

- Baubles — round ornaments in red, gold, blue, and silver
- String lights — a zigzag of small glowing bulbs
- Tinsel and garlands — curved sparkly strands draped across the branches
- Candy canes — red-and-white striped hooks hanging from branches
