Step-by-Step: Drawing a Boy's Face with the Circle Trick

Step 1: Draw a Circle

Draw a medium-sized circle in the centre of your page. This circle forms the top part of the head.

Step 2: Add the Chin

Below the circle, draw a curved line that narrows down to a soft point — this adds the chin and jaw. The combined shape looks like an egg.

Step 3: Draw the Cross Guidelines

Lightly draw a vertical line down the centre of the face and a horizontal line across the middle of the whole head. Draw another horizontal line halfway between the middle line and the chin — this is the nose line. Erase these later!

Step 4: Draw the Eyes

Place the eyes sitting ON the horizontal middle guideline, one on each side of the centre vertical line. Draw almond shapes pointed at both ends. Add a circle iris inside each eye with a smaller black pupil circle within.
