How to Draw a Halloween Skeleton — Easy for Kids

Skeletons look spooky but they're made of simple shapes! Let's draw a cartoon Halloween skeleton with Parikshet.

What You'll Need

  • Pencil (HB or 2B)
  • Eraser
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • White and black coloured pencils

Step-by-Step: Drawing a Halloween Skeleton

Step 1: Draw the Skull

Draw a large oval for the skull — slightly wider at the top than the bottom. Below the oval, add a small rectangular jaw. Leave a gap between the skull and jaw to show the mouth opening.

Step 2: Draw the Skull Face

Inside the skull, draw two large oval eye sockets — dark, hollow circles. Between and below the eyes, draw two small oval nose holes. In the jaw area, draw a row of rectangular teeth like small square tiles side by side.

Step 3: Draw the Rib Cage

Below the skull draw a vertical line for the spine. On each side, draw four or five curved lines arching outward then back inward — these are the ribs. They look like brackets on each side of the spine.

Step 4: Draw the Pelvis

At the bottom of the rib cage, draw a wide bowl shape — the pelvis. It's wider than the rib cage with two round hip openings.

Step 5: Draw the Arms and Hands

Draw two thin oval shapes for upper arm bones, then two thinner pieces for the forearms. End with a hand: five thin finger bones fanning out from a small palm rectangle.

Step 6: Draw the Leg Bones

Draw two large cylinder shapes for thigh bones going down from the pelvis. Then two thinner bones for the lower legs. Add simple oval foot bones with five tiny toe bones.

Step 7: Add Joints

At each joint — shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle — draw a small circle. Joints hold the skeleton together and make it look real.

Step 8: Outline and Colour

Outline everything boldly in black marker. The skeleton is white against a black or dark purple background. Eye sockets, nose holes, and the gaps between ribs are solid black.

Colouring Tips

A stark white skeleton on a solid black background is the most dramatic Halloween look. Add a bright orange moon in the background for classic Halloween atmosphere.
