What you will need
- Coloured paper or card, the kind that is a little thicker than printer paper
- Child-safe scissors
- A glue stick, plus a small bottle of liquid glue for the tricky parts
- Markers, crayons, or pencils for decoration
- Old newspaper or a craft mat to keep the table clean
How to make it
Lay out everything before you start. Crafts go a lot smoother when you are not hunting for the glue with sticky hands. Watch the video once first, then pause at each step and copy along.
Take your time with the cutting. Slow scissors give clean edges, and clean edges make the final piece look ten times nicer. If a cut goes wrong, do not worry, you can usually trim around it.
Tips that make a difference
- Use a glue stick for paper-on-paper and liquid glue only for small joints. Liquid glue can warp paper if you use too much.
- Press each glued piece for a slow count to ten. It feels long, but the bond holds much better.
- Let the project rest for a few minutes before moving it. New glue is weaker than dry glue.
- Save your scraps. Most of them can become eyes, hair, or tiny details on the next craft.
Fun variations to try
Once you finish the main version, try changing one thing. Use a different colour, swap the size, or add googly eyes. Tiny changes turn one tutorial into five different projects, and that is where real creativity starts to show up.

What You'll Make
Finding diamonds in Minecraft Survival is one of the game's greatest achievements — diamonds are the rarest and most valuable resource you can mine, and they unlock the best tools, armour, and equipment in the game. Here is how to give yourself the best chance of finding them.
Materials Needed (In-Game)
- An iron pickaxe (minimum — wooden and stone ones cannot mine diamond)
- Torches (bring at least 64)
- Food (bring plenty — long mining trips drain hunger)
- A chest back at your base to store non-essential items
- Optional: a fortune enchantment on your pickaxe to get more diamonds per ore
Step-by-Step: The Diamond Mining Strategy
- First, build an iron pickaxe — diamonds cannot be mined with stone or wooden tools. Collect iron ore, smelt it in a furnace, and craft iron pickaxes.
- Dig downward to layer Y=−58. This is where diamond ore is most densely concentrated in modern Minecraft (1.18 and later). Check your coordinates by pressing F3 on PC.
- Mine in straight horizontal tunnels at this level — dig 2 blocks high and 1 block wide, extending as far as possible in one direction.
- Every 3 blocks, turn and mine a side tunnel extending off your main tunnel in both directions. This branch mining pattern covers the maximum area with the minimum digging.
- Place torches regularly (every 8 to 10 blocks) to light your tunnels and prevent mob spawning in the darkness behind you.
- When you spot diamond ore (bright blue sparkle on a dark grey block), mine it carefully. Check all surrounding blocks for lava before mining — diamond veins near lava are the most dangerous trap in the game.
- Collect your diamonds and return to your base to store them safely before continuing. Do not risk losing what you have already found.
Tips for Best Results
- Never mine the diamond block directly adjacent to lava — pour a water bucket next to it first to solidify the lava before mining.
- A Fortune III enchantment on your pickaxe can turn 1 diamond ore into 4 diamonds — saving enormous amounts of time.
- Strip mining is patient work — turn on music or a podcast and settle in for a long, productive session.
