Step-by-Step: The Diamond Mining Strategy

  2. Dig downward to layer Y=−58. This is where diamond ore is most densely concentrated in modern Minecraft (1.18 and later). Check your coordinates by pressing F3 on PC.

  4. Every 3 blocks, turn and mine a side tunnel extending off your main tunnel in both directions. This branch mining pattern covers the maximum area with the minimum digging.
