  • Pencil and rubber

How to Draw a Candy Cane Step by Step

  1. Step 1 — Draw a long, slightly curved line going down the page — this is the back of the candy cane.
  2. Step 2 — At the top, curl the line over into a smooth hook, like the handle of a walking stick.
  3. Step 3 — Draw a second line running parallel to the first all the way down, keeping the same hook at the top, so the cane has thickness.
  4. Step 4 — Close off both ends of the candy cane with small curves so they look rounded, not flat.
  5. Step 5 — Across the length of the cane, draw diagonal stripes — these should be evenly spaced and all leaning the same way.
  6. Step 6 — Outline everything with a black marker and rub out the pencil lines.
  7. Step 7 — Colour every alternate stripe red, leaving the stripes in between white.
  8. Step 8 — Add a thin white highlight along one edge with a gel pen or by leaving a white strip — this makes the candy look shiny.
