How to Draw a School Boy: Step-by-Step for Kids
Grab your pencil and let's draw together with Parikshet — a quick sketch of a school boy, perfect for the 100 Days Drawing Challenge!
What You'll Need
- Pencil (HB or 2B)
- Eraser
- White paper
- Black marker
- Coloured pencils or crayons (skin tone, white, blue, black, brown)
Step-by-Step: Drawing a School Boy
Step 1: Draw the Head Circle
Near the top of your paper, draw a medium-sized circle for the boy's head. It should be round and smooth — about the size of a golf ball on the paper.
Step 2: Add Short Hair
On top of the head, draw a simple hairline — a slightly jagged or curved line across the upper head showing where the hair starts. Add short, spiky strokes above it for the hair. Keep the hair simple: just a few spikes or a flat-top style.
Step 3: Draw the Face Features
Add two simple oval eyes in the upper half of the face. Below, draw a small curved nose (just a tiny hook shape) and a friendly smile below that. Add two small ears on the sides of the head.
Step 4: Draw the School Uniform Body
Below the head, draw the body in a school uniform. Start with a white shirt — draw two shoulder lines, then the front of the shirt going down. Add a small collar at the neck and a simple tie in the centre (a thin triangular shape pointing down). Below the shirt, draw the waistband of school trousers.
Step 5: Add the School Bag
On the boy's back (or shown hanging off one shoulder), draw a rectangular school backpack. Add two shoulder strap lines, a large front pocket rectangle, and a smaller top pocket. This detail instantly makes the drawing recognisable as a school boy.
Step 6: Draw Arms and Hands
Draw two arms — one hanging down and one raised slightly, perhaps holding a book or pencil. Add simple hands with four fingers at the end of each arm.
Step 7: Draw the Legs and Shoes
Below the body, draw two legs in dark blue or grey school trousers. Add simple lace-up school shoes at the bottom — rectangular with a curved top edge.
Colouring Your School Boy
The shirt is white. The trousers are dark blue or grey. The tie can be red or striped. The bag can be dark blue, green, or black. The shoes are black. Use a warm skin tone for the face and hands.
Parikshet's Tips
- The school bag is what transforms this from a random boy into a school boy — make sure to include it.
- Add a notebook or pencil in the raised hand for extra character.
- Practice makes perfect!
