About this golf moment
Golf is one of those sports that looks calm on the outside and is full of tiny battles on the inside. Every swing involves balance, grip, focus, and a little bit of patience, and kids who play even casually pick up all four.
This clip is part of Parikshet's golf journey. He is 11 and still learning, just like most kids who give the sport a try. What you see here is real practice, real mistakes, and real progress.
Why kids enjoy golf
- It is one of the few sports where size and speed do not decide the winner
- Every shot is a chance to start fresh, no matter what the last one looked like
- It teaches patience without ever feeling like a lecture
- The score is personal, so kids compete with themselves first
Tips for parents new to golf
Start with a small set of plastic or junior clubs in the back garden. A short, soft swing is more useful than a long one early on. And if your child loves it, a local driving range is usually cheaper and friendlier than people expect.

Golf Basics: The Aim Game
In golf, aiming correctly is one of the most important skills you can build. Even the most powerful swing in the world will miss the target if your body is not lined up properly. The aim game is a fun drill that trains you to get your club and body aligned perfectly before every single shot.
How to Play the Aim Game
- Pick a Specific Target — Choose one exact target: the centre of the flag, a cone on the ground, or a specific tree. Be precise — "that direction" is not good enough.
- Draw an Imaginary Line — Visualise a straight line from your ball to the target. This is called the target line and it is the most important line in golf.
- Align the Clubface First — Place the club behind the ball so the clubface points directly down the target line before you do anything else with your body.
- Set Your Feet Parallel — Position your feet so they run parallel to the target line — like standing on railway tracks where one rail points to the target and one rail is where your feet are.
- Check Shoulders and Hips — Your shoulders, hips, and feet should all be parallel to each other and to the target line.
- Use an Alignment Stick — Lay a club or stick along your toe line while practising. This instantly shows you if you are aimed correctly.
Key Golf Terms
- Target Line: The imaginary straight line from your ball directly to your target.
- Alignment: Having your body and clubface set up parallel to the target line.
- Clubface: The flat surface of the golf club that makes contact with the ball.
- Stance: The position and width of your feet when you set up to hit.
- Address: The moment you stand behind the ball and prepare to swing.
Practice Tips
- Use two alignment sticks — one pointing at the target along the ball line, one along your toe line — to make alignment completely visual.
- Pick a small, specific target every time. "The left edge of the flag" beats "the flag" every time.
- Ask someone to film you from directly behind to check your alignment — it is almost impossible to feel when you are slightly off without outside feedback.
Did You Know?
Professional golfers like Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods use alignment sticks in almost every single practice session — even after playing professionally for more than 20 years. Great alignment is never taken for granted at any level!
