Step-by-Step: Drawing a Bart Simpsons
Step 1: Draw the Head and Hair
Draw a large, irregular oval for Bart's head. On top, draw his iconic spiky hair — five large spikes along the top of the head, evenly spaced, pointing outward in a crown.
Step 2: Add the Face
Draw two large oval eyes on the upper-middle of the face. Add small circular pupils. Below the eyes, draw a small curve for the nose. Bart's nose points straight up from the face.
Step 3: Draw the Mouth
Draw Bart's wide, cheeky grin — a wide curved line with the ends pointing up. Add a few small rectangles inside for his top teeth, and a curved line at the top of the mouth for his tongue.
Step 4: Add the Ear
On the side of the head, draw a small C-shape ear. Inside, draw a smaller curved line. Bart's ears are small and simple.
Step 5: Draw the Body and Shirt
Below the head, draw a round, slightly chubby body. Draw a short-sleeved red shirt (or orange, depending on episode). Add two sleeve ends and a shirt collar.
Step 6: Add the Shorts
Below the shirt, draw short blue shorts. The waistband is visible at the top. Keep them simple and rectangular.
Step 7: Draw the Legs and Shoes
Draw two short, thick legs below the shorts. At the bottom, draw Bart's classic large, rounded shoes — they should be oversized compared to the legs.
Step 8: Add Details
Add short horizontal lines on the shirt for the pattern. Draw his characteristic spiky hair outline with clean, even spikes. Add a tiny squiggle line between nose and mouth.
Colouring Your Bart Simpsons
Bart wears a red or orange shirt, blue shorts, and has yellow skin — a classic Simpsons look! His hair is black-outlined spikes over yellow skin. Shoes are grey with white soles.
Tips from Parikshet
- The five spikes on Bart's head should point outward like a star crown — not straight up like a cactus!
- Bart's eyes are always wide open with a mischievous look — add big pupils close together for that troublemaker expression!
- Practice makes perfect — try drawing it again tomorrow!
