A Christmas cat is a cute cartoon cat dressed up for the festive season — usually wearing a Santa hat, a scarf, or sitting beside a Christmas tree. In this tutorial Parikshet shows you how to draw a fluffy seated cat with a tiny red Santa hat.
🎨 What You Need
- White A4 paper
- HB pencil and rubber
- Black marker
- Orange, red, green, pink and white colour pencils
- Optional: glitter pen for the hat
How to Draw a Christmas Cat Step by Step
- Step 1 — Draw a round circle in the centre of your page for the cat's head.
- Step 2 — On top of the head add two triangular ears with smaller pink triangles inside.
- Step 3 — Draw two big round eyes, a small triangle nose and a W-shaped mouth below it.
- Step 4 — Add three whisker lines on each cheek.
- Step 5 — Below the head draw a larger oval body sitting upright, with two small front paws tucked together at the front.
- Step 6 — Curl a long tail around one side of the body so it ends near the front paws.
- Step 7 — On the cat's head, draw a small Santa hat: a triangle that flops to one side, a white furry band at the base and a fluffy white pom-pom at the tip.
- Step 8 — Add a striped scarf around the cat's neck. Outline in black marker, then colour the cat orange or grey, the hat bright red, and the scarf in stripes of red and green.
🌟 Did You Know?
Cats can recognise their owner's voice but often choose to ignore it — scientists have proved this in real experiments. So the Christmas cat in your picture is probably pretending it cannot hear you call.
Easy Variations to Try
- Draw a Christmas kitten inside a gift box
- Add a string of fairy lights around the cat
- Draw a cat batting at a hanging bauble
- Place the cat under a small Christmas tree
🎯 Try This: Christmas Window Scene
- Draw a square window frame in the middle of the page
- Inside, put your Christmas cat sitting on the windowsill
- Draw a small Christmas tree behind the cat

How do I draw a Santa hat on the cat?
Draw a triangle on top of the cat's head, flop the pointed tip to one side, add a thick white furry band at the bottom and a fluffy white pom-pom at the tip.
What colour should the Christmas cat be?
Classic Christmas cats are usually ginger orange, white, grey or black. Bright orange contrasts beautifully against the red Santa hat.
How do I make the cat look fluffy and warm?
Draw the outline of the body with little bumps instead of one smooth line, and add a fluffy striped scarf around the neck.
Can I draw the cat with other Christmas accessories?
Yes — try reindeer antlers instead of a hat, a candy cane held in the paws, or string lights wrapped around the body.
