How to Draw a Treasure Chest Step by Step
- Draw the box base — a wide rectangle for the bottom of the chest, drawn slightly in 3D (show the front face and a bit of the side).
- Add the curved lid — a rounded, dome-shaped lid on top, drawn open and tilted back so we can see inside.
- Add the wood planks — vertical lines on the box and curved lines on the lid to show wooden planks.
- Add metal bands — horizontal metal straps across the wood, with rivets (small dots), for strength.
- Draw the lock — a metal lock plate and keyhole on the front of the chest.
- Fill it with treasure — pile gold coins, jewels, pearls, and a crown spilling out of the open chest.
- Add sparkles — little star-sparkles and shine marks on the gold and jewels to make them gleam.
- Colour — brown wood, grey-and-gold metal, shining gold coins, colourful jewels.
🌟 Did You Did You Know?
Real pirates rarely buried their treasure the way films show — they usually spent it quickly! The idea of buried treasure and treasure maps with 'X marks the spot' mostly comes from the famous adventure book 'Treasure Island', written in 1883. Real treasure chests, though, were used for centuries by sailors and merchants to store coins and valuables, often with heavy iron locks and bands for protection.

- Add a pirate flag and the sea in the background.
