Yoshi — Mario's cheerful green dinosaur companion — has one of the most lovable designs in gaming. His round body, big eyes, and iconic red boots make him a joy to draw. Parikshet's guide focuses on the key shapes that make Yoshi instantly recognisable.

🖍️ What You Need

  • Pencil and eraser
  • Green, white, and red markers
  • Orange for the nose/saddle
  • Black pen for outlines

How to Draw Yoshi Step by Step

  1. Draw the head — a large oval, slightly elongated horizontally.
  2. Add the snout — an egg-shaped protrusion on the right side of the head. This gives Yoshi his distinctive dinosaur profile.
  3. Draw the eye — one large round eye on the face. Yoshi's eye is huge — a large white oval with a big dark pupil and white highlight.
  4. Add the nose — a round orange circle at the end of the snout.
  5. Draw the body — a large, rounded teardrop shape below the head.
  6. Add the saddle — Yoshi's white oval back patch in the centre of his back.
  7. Draw the legs and boots — short, chubby legs with iconic large red boots.
  8. Add the arms and tail — small rounded arms and a rounded tail curving upward.
  9. Colour — green body, white saddle, red boots, orange nose.
💡 Parikshet's Tip: Yoshi's snout sticking out to the side is the most important feature. If it looks like a regular dinosaur or dog, check the snout — it needs to clearly protrude at a 45-degree angle from the face.
