How to Draw a Minecraft Creeper — Step-by-Step for Kids
Creepers are every Minecraft player's nightmare — but they're super fun to draw! Grab your pencil and follow along with Parikshet.
What You'll Need
- Pencil (HB or 2B)
- Eraser
- White paper
- Black marker
- Green and black coloured pencils
- Ruler (optional)
Step-by-Step: Drawing a Minecraft Creeper
Step 1: Draw the Head
Start by drawing a large square near the top centre of your paper. Minecraft characters have blocky, square heads — make the sides straight and equal. This square should take up about a third of your drawing space.
Step 2: Draw the Body
Below the head, draw a slightly taller rectangle centred under it. The body should be a little narrower than the head. Leave a tiny gap between head and body to show the neck.
Step 3: Add the Front Legs
At the bottom of the body, draw two small rectangles side by side for the front legs. Each leg is about half the width of the body.
Step 4: Add the Back Legs
Draw two more small rectangles slightly behind and beside the front legs. Creepers have four stubby legs — think of them like four square stumps.
Step 5: Draw the Creeper Face
Back on the head, draw two tall rectangular eye shapes side by side near the top. Below the eyes, draw a wide, jagged mouth shape — it looks like the letter M with extra bumps, giving the Creeper its famous angry-sad expression.
Step 6: Add Body Texture Details
Add small pixel squares scattered across the body and legs to give that blocky Minecraft texture. Draw a few irregular rectangles on the body to suggest the mottled green pixel pattern.
Step 7: Outline with Marker
Trace all your pencil lines with a black marker. Make the outline clean and bold. Erase any leftover pencil marks once the marker is dry.
Step 8: Colour It Green
Colour the entire Creeper in bright green. Use a darker green for the pixel detail patches. Leave the eyes and mouth black. The face details stay dark to create that iconic Creeper look.
Colouring Tips
Use two shades of green — bright lime green for the base and darker forest green for the pixel patches. Eyes and mouth are pure black with no fill.
Parikshet's Tips
- Use a ruler to keep your squares and rectangles perfectly straight — Minecraft is all about blocky shapes!
- Draw the head first and size everything else below it so proportions stay balanced.
- Practice every day and you'll get better!
