How to Draw and Colour a Strawberry — Easy for Kids
Strawberries are bright, juicy, and super fun to draw! Let's draw a big shiny strawberry step by step with Parikshet.
What You'll Need
- Pencil (HB or 2B)
- Eraser
- White paper
- Black marker
- Red, green, and yellow coloured pencils
Step-by-Step: Drawing a Strawberry
Step 1: Draw the Berry Shape
Draw a large heart shape, but stretch the bottom point downward to make it more like a rounded triangle. The top is wide and slightly dipped where the leaves attach; the bottom comes to a rounded point.
Step 2: Draw the Leaves (Calyx)
At the top of the berry, draw four to five pointy leaf shapes spreading outward like a star. Each leaf is a slightly curved triangle with a pointed tip.
Step 3: Add the Stem
From the very centre of the calyx leaves, draw a short curved stem going upward. Make it thin and slightly curvy like a real strawberry stem.
Step 4: Draw the Seeds
Cover the surface of the berry with small oval or teardrop shapes scattered all over. These are the seeds. Space them out evenly — 20 to 30 seeds is plenty.
Step 5: Add a Shine Spot
In the upper-left area of the berry, draw a small curved oval and leave it white — this is the light reflection that makes the strawberry look shiny and juicy.
Step 6: Add Texture Lines
Draw a few subtle curved lines running from top to bottom of the berry following its round shape to show the surface texture.
Step 7: Outline with Marker
Go over all pencil lines with black marker. Keep seed outlines small and fine, outer berry outline bold.
Step 8: Colour the Strawberry
Colour the berry bright red. Leave the shine spot white. Shade the lower half slightly darker red. Colour the leaves and stem in two shades of green.
Colouring Tips
Add tiny yellow centres to some seeds — real strawberry seeds have a tiny yellow tip. Shade with crimson near the bottom and bright red in the middle for a round, juicy look.
Parikshet's Tips
- The shine spot makes the biggest difference — don't colour over it!
- Space your seeds evenly across the whole berry, not just on one side.
- Practice every day and you'll get better!
