How to Draw the Loudly Crying Emoji: Step-by-Step for Kids

Grab your pencil and let's draw together with Parikshet — the loudly crying emoji with big blue tears and the most dramatic sad face!

What You'll Need

  • Pencil (HB or 2B)
  • Eraser
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • Coloured pencils or crayons (yellow, blue, black, white)

Step-by-Step: Drawing the Loudly Crying Emoji

Step 1: Draw the Big Yellow Circle

In the centre of your paper, draw a large, perfect circle. Make it big — fill most of the page. This is the emoji face. The loudly crying emoji is round and yellow, just like all emoji faces.

Step 2: Draw the Scrunched-Up Eyes

In the upper-centre of the circle, draw two tightly closed, scrunched eyes. Each eye is a curved line angling downward in the middle — like this: >< but rounder. The brows above the eyes should be angled inward and downward to show extreme sadness and crying.

Step 3: Draw the Open Crying Mouth

In the lower half of the circle, draw a wide-open, downward-curved mouth. The "loudly crying" emoji has its mouth wide open in a wail — a large, rounded downward arc. Inside the open mouth, draw the upper teeth (a row of small rectangles) and fill the inside of the mouth dark.

Step 4: Draw the Eyebrows

Above the scrunched eyes, draw two thick eyebrows angled sharply downward toward the centre of the face. The inner ends of the eyebrows should point downward — this is the key to showing extreme sadness rather than anger.

Step 5: Draw the Streaming Tears

This is the most dramatic part! From each eye, draw a large, heavy stream of tears flowing downward. Unlike regular sad emoji (which have small tear drops), the loudly crying emoji has BIG, gushing streams of tears — like waterfalls. Draw the tear streams as wide, flowing shapes that drip off the bottom of the face circle.

Step 6: Add Tear Drop Details

At the bottom of each tear stream, add rounded teardrop shapes — tears that have dripped off the face. Add three or four teardrops below each stream for maximum drama.

Step 7: Outline and Finalize

Go over all lines with a bold black marker. The tear streams can be outlined in blue or black. Erase pencil marks.

Colouring Your Crying Emoji

Colour the face bright yellow. The tears and tear streams are bright blue. The scrunched eyes have blue highlights (from the reflection of tears). The open mouth interior is dark — use black or very dark red. The eyebrows are black and thick.

Parikshet's Tips

  • The streaming tears should be HUGE — much bigger than you might think. This is the "loudly" crying emoji after all!
  • The dramatically angled eyebrows are what separates crying from just sadness — get the angle right.
  • Practice makes perfect!
