Step-by-Step: Drawing a 3D Floating Letter B

Step 1: Draw the Flat Letter B

Using your ruler, draw a large letter B in the centre of your paper. The B has a straight vertical bar on the left (about 8 cm tall and 1.5 cm wide) and two rounded bumps on the right — a top bump and a slightly larger bottom bump. The top bump is a D-shape, the bottom bump is a slightly larger D-shape.

Step 2: Set the Vanishing Point

Place a vanishing point to the upper-right of the B — about 5 cm to the right and 3 cm above the top of the letter. All depth lines radiate from this point.

Step 3: Draw Depth Lines from Key Corner Points

From the corners of the flat letter B — the top-left, bottom-left, top-right, and bottom-right of the straight vertical bar, plus the rightmost points of each round bump — draw light lines going to the vanishing point. These create the 3D depth guides.
