💡 Perfect if you're thinking...
Cartoon cotton candy (candyfloss) is one of the easiest sweet-treat drawings to learn because it's basically a cloud on a stick. You'll master a fluffy outline, a paper cone, and a happy face — all in under ten minutes.
🎨 What You Need
- Plain white paper or sketchbook
- HB pencil and rubber
- Black fineliner or marker
- Pink and blue colouring pencils
- Optional: white gel pen for shine
How to Draw Cartoon Cotton Candy
- Draw the cone — a long thin triangle pointing down, about a third of the page tall.
- Add the cloud top — draw a wobbly bumpy outline above the cone, like four or five soft bumps joined together.
- Make it puffy — add a few extra bumps on the sides so the candyfloss looks wider than the cone.
- Cone texture — draw two diagonal lines across the cone to suggest waffle pattern.
- Add the face — two oval eyes with shiny dots, a tiny smile, and rosy cheeks.
- Ink the outline — go over pencil lines with a fineliner, then rub out the pencil.
- Colour — pink on one side of the cloud, light blue on the other, brown for the cone.
- Add highlights — small white gel-pen dots on the cloud and cone for a glossy cartoon shine.
🌟 Did You Know?
Cotton candy was invented in 1897 by a dentist (yes, really) called William Morrison, together with confectioner John C. Wharton. It debuted at the 1904 World's Fair.

Why does my cloud look like broccoli?
The bumps are too even. Mix big and small bumps and let some overlap for a fluffy look.
What colours should real candyfloss be?
Classic British candyfloss is bright pink. American cotton candy is often pink-and-blue swirled.
Can I draw this in marker only?
Yes — skip the pencil step and draw confidently. Mistakes become part of the cartoony charm.
How do I make it look 3D?
Add a curved shadow line under one side of the cloud and along one edge of the cone.
